Editorial Policy

How we write, check and update the content on ClearBMI.

What we publish

Calculators and plain-language summaries of official guidance from public health bodies such as the CDC, the NIH, the WHO and the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), and of peer-reviewed research. Sources are listed on each article and on our methodology page.

Accuracy

Numbers come from code covered by automated checks. Text is checked against the cited sources before it’s published and again when guidance changes, and calculators and articles show when they were last updated.

Medical review

ClearBMI doesn’t have a medical reviewer yet, so we don’t publish advice that needs clinical judgment, such as on medicines, surgery or pregnancy. Those topics will only be covered in depth after review by a licensed health professional, and the page will name the reviewer.

Use of AI

We use AI tools to help draft text and code. A person checks every page against the cited sources, and every calculation is covered by automated checks.

Independence and advertising

We don’t sell or promote supplements, diets or weight-loss products, and we don’t accept payment to mention them. If we show ads in the future, they’ll be clearly labeled and never placed above the calculator.

Corrections

If you find an error, tell us. We fix confirmed errors promptly and record significant corrections in the changelog.
